Geeks on Gadgets comes up with the latest rumours about Microsoft and Windows Phone!
Currently Microsoft is going through upheavals in terms of changes of the director, the radical shifts from the point of view of priority of products and technologies, as well as the integration of Nokia which opens some more aspects of expansion for the Windows market. Probably this is the reason why Microsoft according to the rumours has decided to unify the new products and updates into one single name being just Windows. According to the information leak this is planned to be done after the release of Windows 9 and Windows Threshold. So this means that we might not encounter any numeric names for the new versions and updates by Microsoft and neither shall we find any new names for them. Despite the scale of the updates that the new versions might get, the name is not going to be changed in any way. This does look like what Apple did in case of Mac OS X and taking into account the popularity and the great scales of the expansion of these products it’s quite a correct and suitable change for the company.
We may see the first evidences of this change starting from now, as the newest HTC smartphone came just being named HTC One M8 for Windows and not Windows Phone. The same goes true about the newest expected update Lumia Denim, about which it is said that all the devices working on Windows OS are supposed to get it.
The exclusion of Nokia brand name is a fact already, since during IFA 2014 in Berlin, when presenting the newest smartphones by Microsoft including Lumia 735, Lumia 730, and Lumia 830, no one ever mentioned the name Nokia in the presentations and discussions. This happens despite the fact that Microsoft has the right to use the name Nokia until November 25, 2015, but the company doesn’t seem to be eager to use that privilege.
So we just have to wait and see what will happen next, in order to find out whether this information is accurate or not.
